Run by a Committee based in Jávea (Alicante), EOS is registered as a Spanish national charity so that it can support its members in all the Regions and Islands of Spain and respond to calls on its Helpline from people intending to come to any part of Spain - whether to live or just to visit. Thus, in its external relationships, EOS is seen to represent the interests of all expatriate ostomists in Spain, and it is on this basis that it has its membership of the International Ostomy Association (IOA) through its European Region (EOA). It is recognised similarly by the UK ostomy associations who routinely refer to it enquiries received from their members about ostomy in Spain.

Although still at a relatively early stage in its development, EOS is gaining a diverse and widespread membership. Ultimately, it is intended that there shall be an active network of regional branches and local corresponding groups. It is at local group level that most of the mutual support and social interaction among members takes place.

EOS is pleased to have the support of the local Town Hall in Jávea, of the 'Insalud' health centre, and of other hospitals and doctors of the region. It is in communication with all known Spanish ostomy groupings throughout Spain.
